Washington, DC – April 11, 2024: DC Veg Restaurant Week is pleased to announce that Joseph Blair, Assistant Coach of the Washington Wizards, and TV personality Bershan Shaw will be the Co-Chairs of this year’s DC Veg Restaurant Week taking place from May 6th-12th. The week will prelude with a ticketed kick-off event at Rooted3 in Bethesda, Maryland on May 4th at 6 pm. The third consecutive year of DC Veg Week will feature the best of plant-based cuisine in restaurants across the DMV metropolitan region.
Co-chair Joseph Blair (JB) is best known as “The Vegan Coach” and has been a vocal supporter of the vegan movement since going plant-based 9 years ago. When asked why he is co-chairing this event he responded: “I’m extremely proud to be a part of this year’s DC VegWeek,” said Blair. “It’s an honor to stand alongside so many amazing DC area restaurants to promote conscious plant based eating, and demonstrate just how diverse and delicious it can truly be. I hope, through my own experiences and expertise, to serve as a role model for anyone striving to live a more meaningful, fulfilling, and conscious life.”
TV personality and entrepreneur Bershan Shaw is also a great example of the benefits of a plant-based lifestyle. “As a cancer survivor, I attribute being here today with going vegan. Being a part of DC VegWeek is a great opportunity for me to share my love of all things veggies with the DC community.”
Many incredible DC-area restaurants have already registered to participate, and are slated to offer patrons eight days of mouth-watering plant-based specials from May 6th-12th.
Highlights of this year’s restaurant list include Almeda, El Tamarindo, Equinox on 19th, BINGE Bar, DC Vegan, Gingerbeet and several others! Diners can expect countless other restaurants to announce deals, discounts, and specialty dishes. Restaurants have until April 21 to register to show off their plant-based specials, deals, and even plants-by-default menu for the week.
To kick-off the first annual DC Veg Restaurant Week in 2022, Mayor Muriel Bowser issued a proclamation officially declaring the week as a city-wide event in recognition of the role a plant-forward food system plays in supporting planetary health.
